RSUI is seeking a Chief Claim Specialist to join our Management Liability/D&O claims team in Atlanta, Georgia! The Chief Claim Specialist provides a high level of specialized claim handling expertise for Management Liability/D&O claims. Strong working relationships are a key component of RSUI’s team-oriented, high-performance culture. Our specialized area of industry focus requires real-time, in-person collaboration that fosters meaningful dialogue and strengthens professional connections. Team meetings, employee events, and other work obligations also often require an in-person presence. This position will work RSUI’s hybrid schedule, which requires three days weekly in the office. Responsibilities:
Initial and ongoing investigation of D&O and general management liability claims. Assertive daily handling of complex claims, litigation, high exposure cases and coverage issues. Providing prompt and accurate coverage positions and liaising with counsel appointed or chosen by insureds to assess liability and exposure and determine litigation defense strategy. Review, analysis and reporting on legal documents and motion practice associated with claims. Appointing and liaising with coverage counsel to the insurer. Ongoing communication and reporting to Unit and Team claims leaders. Attendance at or assistance with underlying litigation and coverage mediations. Providing appropriate reporting on files to the unit leader and/or sr. management with recommendations on reserving, plan of action, current evaluation as required. Acting independently in evaluating claim exposures with assigned dollar authority. May perform other related tasks as assigned, depending on business need.
Qualifications:
JD strongly preferred; College degree or equivalent experience required. 7+ years of Public and Private D&O claims experience preferred, with a high degree of technical experience. Attorney experience in the areas of complex commercial claims and coverage litigation preferred. Adjuster’s license required or ability to obtain and maintain required adjuster’s licenses. Strong technical and analytical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills required (telephone, e-mail and interpersonal). Excellent understanding and skill level of internal and external customer service. Current, in-depth knowledge of specialized claim handling, legal issues, civil procedures, loss compensation values, principles of investigation, adjustment documentation and evaluation of cases to determine effective course of action. Exposure to specialties claims handling, particularly in the area of public and private D&O claims. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word and Excel).
