•This position is funded in part through federal funds. This is not a trainee position. Up to 4 positions may be filled depending upon the availability of federal funding. This position is located at the Division of Disability Determination Services (DDS) at the Department of Health and Human Services in Raleigh, N.C. This agency makes medical entitlement decisions on Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid Disability claims. Applicants must possess formal DDS training in the evaluation of Social Security Disability claims and a minimum of 36 months experience in the adjudication of initial claims, including documented experience with all claim types outlined in the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities section. Only applicants with specific experience will be considered. Candidates also must possess detailed familiarity with SSA disability medical and vocational criteria, policies and procedures, related court decisions, and administrative rulings. These positions require an experienced disability analyst with superior skills in Social Security and Medicaid disability claims development and adjudication.

must apply these skills by processing claims in an electronic environment that are unassigned due to absences or resignations and processing special workloads; assisting examiners experiencing performance problems, providing training, assessing general performance deficiencies; engaging in special projects defined by management and providing leadership in units when regular supervision is unavailable.
