About the role Reporting to the Head of Claims Americas, you will work closely with the Underwriting and Middle Office/Operations teams of MS Reinsurance. This role will be responsible for managing the US domestic claims portfolio for all classes of business underwritten by MS Reinsurance’s New York Office. Also assisting with the management of the Latin America claims portfolio. “To continually improve our clients’ experience by placing them at the heart of our service and the decisions we make.” Your responsibilities Manage daily claim activities and be responsible for assigned portfolio across a variety of classes of business, including the prompt payment of claim settlements and setting of reserves. Investigate and assess new and existing claims, reviewing contractual terms to determine coverage and exposure. Ensure timely and adequate case reserves, actively working towards the prompt resolution of claims. Work closely with the Middle Office/Operations Team to approve referred claims in a timely manner and provide guidance on complex claims issues. Maintain clear and professional communication with all relevant internal and external stakeholders throughout the claims process. Monitor the quality of data for your assigned portfolio to maintain accuracy and reliability. Liaise with the Contracts and Wordings team to propose necessary amendments to reinsurance clauses as required. Cultivate strong relationships with underwriters, clients, brokers, and other key stakeholders. Facilitate meetings with clients/brokers to discuss claim developments, current trends, and potential challenges. Conduct and participate in reinsurer claims audits (both virtual and in-person) for your portfolio, preparing comprehensive reports in a timely manner. Assume additional responsibilities as needed, including the production and presentation of claims and management information reports. Ensure adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and standards (both local and group level), as well as applicable regulations. Serve as a deputy for team members during their absence, ensuring continuity of operations. Undertake any other related tasks as requested by the company that align with your expertise and skills. Experience:

A minimum of 6 years of claims handling experience within the reinsurance industry.

Technical Expertise:

Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of technical reinsurance claims handling.

Educational Background:

A degree from a University or College in a business or legal discipline is preferred.

Industry Knowledge:

Strong understanding of property, casualty, and specialty re/insurance lines of business.

Contract Acumen:

Solid knowledge of reinsurance contract terms and structures.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, complemented by a proven track record of attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

Communication Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish are essential.

Time Management:

Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively.

Compensation range:

$120,000 -$180,000 Only candidates authorized to work in the USA will be considered.
