Job Description

Liability Claims Team Supervisor Job Summary:

The Liability Claims Team Supervisor is responsible for training and mentoring the Associate Claims Team to ensure excellence in claim handling, customer service, and productivity.

Major Accountabilities:

Provide overall team leadership and direction resulting in timely, accurate and efficient processing of associate level claims. Monitor individual performance and ensure it meets expected quality standards and performance objectives Provide daily support to team on claim handling Ensure indemnity reserves are established accurately and timely Review and approve claims payments above individual authority levels Provide supervision, coaching and counseling to the associate level team Report monthly results and activities along with solutions to problems and deviations to anticipated results Identify and recommend solutions for improved efficiency and productivity Ensure team communication with all customers is professional and timely Handle and resolve agent inquiries, Dept of Insurance complaints and escalate customer calls in a professional and efficient manner Assist Associate Claims Team Manager in employee performance evaluation, feedback, retention and disciplinary actions to direct reports. Assist in hiring and training new candidates in their job responsibilities Perform any other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:
Education/Training Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field or commensurate experience preferred. CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.

Required Experience/Specialized Skills:

Minimum of three to five years’ experience in commercial claim handling required. Minimum two years’ experience with the handling of bodily injury claims required. Advanced understanding with insurance law, commercial auto policies and coverages, and legal principles and terminology as it relates to insurance operations required. Intermediate computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet, e-mail) required.

Special Considerations:
Physical Requirements:

Constant use of vision, hearing, and communication (oral and written in person and via telephone). Frequent concentration, standing, walking, handling, reaching, and grasping is required. There will be occasional bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 25 lbs.). Heavy use of computer and office equipment required.

Travel/Hours of Service:

Occasional travel required. Periodic work outside of standard business hours or on weekends may be required.
