Description

Job Summary:

Under the general guidance of the VP, Corporate Compliance and Privacy, the Manager, Privacy, will provide oversight for all aspects of the TGH Privacy Program. Responsible for ensuring compliance with HIPAA and state regulatory compliance, ensuring appropriate access and controls around access to PHI within the organization and ensuring appropriate review of breaches of any sensitive data within the systems related to PHI. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Responsible for creating a framework for organizational review of all privacy policies to ensure alignment with legal and regulatory standards, as well as ensuring timely updates of all processes related to privacy
Develops processes and programs to ensure all required notifications are sent in a timely manner to keep all stakeholders informed of reporting procedures.
Provides leadership to the team around appropriate oversight of fact gathering activities related to actual and potential privacy violations.
Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure highly reliable processes related to privacy reporting, follow-up and resolution and implementation of best practices to ensure organizational improvement of processes based on privacy trends.
Provide operational leadership for Privacy and Compliance Specialists to ensure ongoing development of team and people leadership related to onboarding, maintaining and development of all team members.
Qualifications
Master’s Healthcare Administration, Master’s in Legal, or Master’s in related field
3 years of demonstrated and progressive leadership experience
5 years of experience in healthcare privacy compliance

Preferred Experience:

3 years in a management role with employee oversight.
An equivalent combination of education and years of experience may be considered.
Compliance Healthcare Privacy Certification (CHPC) (upon hire or within 18 months of hire)
Demonstrates current knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the healthcare industry.
Demonstrates active listening skills and appropriate verbal and written communication skills in interaction with stakeholders.
Conflict management skills; considers alternative actions, when necessary, in approaching problem-solving in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to effectively train professionals in privacy and compliance matters.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross functional teams and build effective relationships to promote compliance across the organization.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
