Responsibilities The Agreements & Compliance Program Director reviews and negotiates intellectual property, export control, confidentiality, and related terms in research related agreements that may include industry and government contracts, and other agreements, such as non-disclosure agreements, memoranda of understanding, interinstitutional agreements, material transfer agreements and intellectual property agreements. This position will analyze and manage communications from the receipt of an Invention Disclosure Form/Disclosure of Work through the entire prosecution of the patent application. Directs communication with faculty, corporate representatives and other stakeholders regarding IP issues and patent procurement. Supervises and performs docketing for all deadlines in the database for history and tracking activities and deadlines for contracts and intellectual property. Facilitates requisite paperwork for all aspects of domestic and foreign patent and trademarks applications and prosecution. Coordinates payment of maintenance and annuity fees. Serves as liaison with students, staff, faculty researchers, licensing managers and outside counsel to assist with the flow and exchange of information. Oversees reporting including contract completion times, contract terms analysis, and general reporting. Will be responsible for developing, updating and monitoring department procedures and training materials pertaining to IP and related contract terms, contract portfolio and completion times, and use of related database software to increase departmental efficiency. Responsible for taking a proactive approach in handling job related activities to include teamwork, interaction with departments and vendors, keeping up with commitments, predicting when circumstances may prevent commitment(s) from being met and takes action to re-prioritize assignments or modify tasks. Serves as liaison with students, staff, faculty researchers, licensing managers, sponsored research administrators, general counsel, compliance, and outside counsel to assist with the flow and exchange of information. Resolves conflicts with faculty, staff, students, companies, and service providers regarding contract terms, procedure and compliance. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with six years’ experience related to intellectual property and compliance as it relates to interpreting, reviewing and revising contract terms or a high school diploma or equivalent and ten years of experience.
