Job Summary:

The Legal & Compliance Manager is responsiblefor overseeing the company’s internal legal matters and ensuringregulatory compliance within the property and casualty insuranceindustry. This role involves developing and implementing compliancepolicies, advising on legal risks, managing regulatory filings, andensuring adherence to state and federal insurance laws. The idealcandidate will have a strong background in insurance law andcompliance, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to workcollaboratively with various departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Experience or familiarity with data calls and various reportbureaus is essential. Develop, implement, and oversee company-widecompliance programs to ensure adherence to applicable insurancelaws and regulations. Monitor and interpret changes in federal andstate insurance laws, regulations, and policies that may impact thecompany’s operations. Advise senior management and internalstakeholders on legal risks and regulatory requirements. Manageregulatory filings, licensing, and reporting obligations with stateinsurance departments and other governing bodies. Conduct internalaudits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance gapsand recommend corrective actions. Develop and maintain policies,procedures, and training programs to promote a culture ofcompliance within the organization. Act as the primary point ofcontact for regulatory agencies and oversee regulatoryexaminations. Assist in contract review, negotiation, andmanagement to mitigate legal risks. Investigate and respond tocompliance-related inquiries, complaints, and potential violations.

Collaborate with legal counsel, auditors, and other externaladvisors as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in law,business administration, or a related field; JD preferred. Minimumof 5-7 years of experience in legal and compliance roles within theproperty and casualty insurance industry. Strong knowledge of stateand federal insurance regulations and compliance requirements.

Experience managing regulatory filings and interacting withinsurance regulatory bodies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving,and communication skills. Ability to work independently andcollaboratively across multiple departments. Strong attention todetail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficiency in legal research and regulatory compliance tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in dealing with programadministrators, third-party administrators, managing generalagents, and reinsurance carriers is preferred. JD or legalbackground with a focus on insurance law, or professionalcertification in compliance such as CPCU, AICP, or CCEP. Experiencehandling regulatory examinations and audits.
