Full Job Description Compliance and Systems Manager Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and highly organized Compliance and Systems Manager to join our lean but growing startup team at Sun Extractions. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing our regulatory compliance and internal operational systems to ensure smooth, audit-ready cannabis manufacturing operations. At Sun Extractions, the Compliance and Systems Manager fulfills the role of Manufacturing Supervisor as defined by NJAC 17:30 – 11.12, ensuring all operations adhere to state cannabis regulations. Beyond this, the role serves as the architect and enforcer of systems that drive traceability, accountability, and operational excellence. This is a leadership role that will require hands-on involvement with staff training, system setup and maintenance, document control, deviation reporting, and coordination with regulatory bodies. You will help establish and maintain a culture of compliance and continuous improvement across departments.

Responsibilities:

Serve as Sun Extractions’ designated Manufacturing Supervisor per NJAC 17:30 – 11.12 to ensure full compliance with state cannabis regulations. Oversee all internal compliance programs including SOP implementation, deviation management, corrective actions, and document control. Lead and optimize traceability systems, batch records, and compliance documentation to ensure audit readiness. Maintain and improve systems through the ERP platform (e.g., Distru) and other compliance tools to ensure accurate data and streamlined workflows. Conduct internal audits and lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) programs. Train team members across departments on SOPs, documentation standards, and compliance protocols. Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits. Analyze compliance data and production systems to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements. Collaborate closely with extraction and packaging teams to ensure operational consistency and regulatory alignment. Foster a culture of transparency, precision, and accountability throughout the facility.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years old per NJ state cannabis employment laws. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a compliance, systems, or operations management role, preferably in cannabis or a GMP-regulated industry. Thorough understanding of New Jersey cannabis regulations and Manufacturing Supervisor requirements. Proven experience managing compliance platforms, ERP systems, and document control workflows. Strong training, communication, and leadership skills across cross-functional teams. Familiarity with SOP writing, deviation tracking, and CAPA processes. Meticulous attention to detail and organization. Ability to interpret regulatory text and apply it to dynamic operations. Comfortable managing audits and interfacing with regulators.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move through a manufacturing environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Additional Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years old per NJ law. Must be able to work on-site in Hamilton, NJ.
