The Director of Compliance position serves as a professional responsible for overseeing all aspects of regulatory compliance within the organization, including health and safety standards, licensing requirements, policy development and implementation, and risk management. The role will provide licensing and safety support, as well as ongoing training for leaders, direct liaising with Licensing and local health departments, and partnership with senior leadership regarding policy revisions to ensure our schools and organization remain compliant. Emphasis on customer experience, safety, and compliance must be top of mind. The Director of Compliance plays a crucial role in ensuring that our schools and students thrive in a healthy and safe environment, and that our operations meet or exceed local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry best practices. For this role, candidates must reside within reasonable proximity to a major airport and within a region that has a high concentration of Spring Education Group schools.
Preferred locations include: Philadelphia, PA; Raleigh, NC; or the Washington, D.C. metro area. This position requires up to 70% travel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Stay up-to-date and informed about licensing, health and safety, and any other regulatory bodies that impact our daily operations.
Design and implement internal policies that comply with all new external requirements and regulations, ensuring they are effectively communicated to and followed by all staff members.
License new schools, install fully qualified directors, and ensure all leadership pipeline candidates obtain full qualifications for Preschool Director roles.
Build relationships with licensing analysts and local health departments, and act as company liaison to facilitate operational needs.
Maintain compliance documentation and manage any changes to a school’s license.
Conduct periodic school visits to audit for compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and medication and immunization policies. Address any findings, corrective action plans and follow-up with Regional Directors and Senior Leadership.
Support Directors and Regional Directors as a consultant on all compliance-related matters and partner with School Operations on solutions.
Ensure that the company complies with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing early childhood education (ECE), including licensing, health and safety, child welfare laws, sanitation, hygiene practices, food safety, immunization requirements, and emergency preparedness.
Manage the process of obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses for all facilities. Ensure that the company adheres to all standards set by accrediting bodies as they pertain to licensing.
In partnership with operations, design, and deliver training programs for staff on compliance-related topics, including health and safety, regulatory requirements, and ethical practices. Roll out and train checklists for compliance. Identify potential compliance risks within the organization and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Maintain an incident reporting system and lead investigations into compliance-related issues.
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, licensing bodies, and health departments. Communicate compliance requirements and updates to the leadership team, staff, and parents.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Attend training and development sessions as required.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Manage additional projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Education & Credentials:
Bachelor’s Degree required with emphasis in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, Public Health, or Business Administration preferred.
Preschool Director qualified required. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a compliance-related role, preferably within the early childhood education sector or a similar environment, is preferred.
Essential Skills:

In-depth knowledge of early childhood education regulations, licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and accreditation processes.
