4 Year Degree Newberry College is seeking candidates for a Graduate Assistant for an Athletic Compliance & Operations position within the Athletics Department. The successful applicant will serve a two-year graduate assistantship, assisting in the day-to-day operations of the office which serves the athletic department’s 25 teams. Newberry College is a member of the South Atlantic Conference and NCAA Division II. This is a two-year position beginning July 2025 and running through May 2027. This position will report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and the Director of Operations and will assist with various department assignments, including overseeing game day operations and assisting with facility matters, while also ensuring compliance with NCAA, SAC, and Newberry policies. This position will have the opportunity to gain experience with hosting NCAA Championships and other special events.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Overview of Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Primary contact for inputting and completing NCAA transfer portal information.
  • Confirm that committed PSAs have met NCAA requirements for initial eligibility.
  • Monitor Countable Athletic Related Activity (CARA) and Declaration of Playing Seasons.
  • Confirm that camp materials meet all NCAA requirements.
  • Contribute to other areas critical to the mission of the Athletics Compliance Office, such as assisting with NCAA reporting, eligibility certifications, and roster management.
Overview of Operations Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in the day-to-day operations, setup and breakdown of assigned athletic events.
  • Serve as Event Manager for selected home athletic events; to include the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluation of student workers.
  • Maintains effective relationships with departmental coaches and staff, campus representatives, and the public.
  • Upkeep and maintenance of assigned inventory, supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Creation/maintenance of visiting team guides and various operations manuals for assigned regular season & post-season events.

Bachelor’s degree in related field. Able to work independently, after project direction. Works well under tight deadlines. Ability to manage multiple projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Physical labor & lifting required at times.
