Job Description

Healthcare Compliance and HIM Director 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 106 Medical Center Boulevard, Fayetteville, TN 37334 Lincoln Medical Center is seeking an experienced HIM Director to join them in a full-time position. The basic purpose of this position is to manage the operations of the Health Information Management functions and activities (i.e., clerical, chart completion, coding, release of information, transcription, etc.) Responsible for implementing effective policies & procedures and monitoring the activities of the HIM areas to assure that all processes are value added and performed in an error-free, quality fashion. Assure all hospital Compliance Standards are monitored and regulated.

Essential Functions:

Directly supervises and coordinates the clerical, coding, and transcription functions. Plans and prioritizes workload at the beginning of the shift and throughout shift in accordance with departmental goals, turnaround time standards, objectives, etc., so deadlines can be met. Assures that staff is performing in a productive manner and that manpower that is assigned is used effectively to accomplish the goals/deadlines that are established. Addresses any concerns regarding employee’s inability to meet productivity standards. Completes monthly and quarterly reporting by due date. Uses reports to address/resolve any trends identified. Ensures payroll is completed according to health system policy. Follows health system policy related to clocking in and out, overtime, recording PTO and documenting occurrences. Updates HIM clerical, coding and transcription job descriptions annually. Maintains knowledge of all HIM clerical functions that the role manages so that if the need arises, can fill in as needed. Assures compliance with all state, federal, The Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory agencies.

High School diploma or equivalent Bachelor’s degree and Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification required Minimum 3-5 years of HIM experience required Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in an HIM environment required
