Endowment and Fund Compliance Specialist 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 1200 West Montgomery Road, Tuskegee, AL 36088 Position Information Position Title Endowment and Fund Compliance Specialist Status Full Time Job Summary Tuskegee University seeks a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative professional to serve as the Endowment and Fund Compliance Specialist within the Division of Development and Alumni Engagement. This position plays a critical role in protecting the integrity of donor intent, ensuring responsible use of endowed and restricted funds, and supporting the full lifecycle of donor-funded accounts. The specialist will draft all new donor gift agreements in coordination with internal units and submit them for review by the Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement prior to donor submission. By proactively engaging with university departments, the specialist ensures that proposed donor commitments are operationally feasible and institutionally aligned before any agreement is finalized or funds are received. This role is also responsible for approving all division-related requisitions tied to donor-secured funds and for monitoring the use of such funds across campus, ensuring alignment with both donor expectations and institutional policies. The manager partners across divisions to ensure data integrity, transparency, and stewardship excellence. Essential Job Duties Gift Agreement Drafting & Donor Intent Assurance Draft all donor agreements for endowed and restricted gifts for review by the Vice President and eventual submission to donors. Engage internal stakeholders—including academic leaders and administrative offices—to confirm the university’s ability to fulfill proposed donor terms prior to agreement execution or fund acceptance. Ensure all agreements reflect appropriate and compliant language in alignment with donor expectations and university policy. Maintain a centralized archive of finalized agreements and ensure integration into institutional records. Endowment Oversight & Financial Integrity Maintain and reconcile accurate records of all endowed and quasi-endowed funds using Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT and the Endowment Management Module. Oversee monthly unitization of pooled endowment investments, including unit value calculations, allocations, and journal postings. Ensure data consistency across Financial Edge, Raiser’s Edge, and Ellucian Colleague systems. Requisition Review & Fund Use Monitoring Approve all requisitions related to donor-secured funds within the division to ensure consistency with donor agreements and fund restrictions. Regularly monitor the utilization of endowed and restricted funds, working with university departments to ensure appropriate, timely, and mission-aligned spending. Identify and address underutilized or misaligned fund usage, recommending corrective actions or alternative strategies as needed. Fund Lifecycle Management Coordinate the setup, naming, activation, and documentation of all endowed and restricted funds. Serve as data steward for fund compliance, maintaining documentation on fund terms, usage history, and restrictions. Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance compliance, accuracy, and transparency. Reporting, Stewardship & Strategic Support Produce fund-level performance and compliance reports for internal leadership and external donor communications. Collaborate with Donor Services and frontline fundraisers to support stewardship reports and campaign reporting. Contribute data and insights to inform campaign planning, fundraising strategy, and leadership decision-making. Scholarship Coordination Ensure student awards from donor-supported scholarships comply with criteria outlined in agreements. Collaborate with Financial Aid and the Scholarship Office to validate accuracy and availability during awarding processes, including the President’s Essay Contest. Training & Campus Engagement Provide training and guidance to university departments on proper use of restricted and endowed funds. Act as a key liaison between Development, Finance, Academic Affairs, and other administrative units to foster collaborative fund management. Audit Readiness & Risk Management Prepare audit-ready documentation for internal and external reviews. Ensure accurate reconciliation between fund balances, donor intent, and financial records. Proactively flag and mitigate compliance risks and fund underperformance. Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) Minimum is high school diploma or equivalent Experience working with financial records, donor information, or administrative data. Experience in a university, nonprofit, military, or public service environment is a plus.

Skills and Attributes Knowledge:

Comfortable using spreadsheets and digital tools to track, review, and report information. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and proper documentation. Good written and verbal communication skills for working across departments.
Ability:
Ability to follow established procedures and ensure funds are used according to donor intent. Organized and dependable; able to manage multiple responsibilities at once.
