Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Analyze the requirements of documents, licenses and regulations to import and export spare parts, materials and equipment, and support the import and export operations.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
Support requests and demands from internal areas, vendors and brokers regarding import and export regulatory customs compliance, ensuring proper documentation and classification. Strong understanding of the US Customs import and export process. Obtain necessary information internally and externally (warehouse, shipping, vendors, customers, regulatory agencies, etc…) to ensure proper importation of parts. Analyze the requirements of documents and licenses to import and export materials and/or equipment, including dual-use items (civilian and military applications). Identify the specific requirements for each component or material according to the existing material classification, government and agencies requirements. Analyze, identify and classify (HTSUS, Schedule B, ECCN and others as applicable) parts (mostly applied to aircraft) to ensure international shipping compliance. Review and support the implementation of procedures to maintain record-keeping systems/process in compliance with US Customs and international regulations. Perform regular audit to entries, ensuring entries are correctly transmitted by brokers (correct classification, correct valuation, use of special programs and provisions etc). Address and correct errors and work on root causes to avoid recurrence. Obtain the necessary information to prepare the documents and licenses required with suppliers or vendors, attorneys, government representatives, etc. Be constantly informed and updated of the current trade and regulatory compliance regulations and industry.
THE AREA
The Logistics & Trade Control Americas team is responsible for the aftermarket logistics operations under the Services & Support (VSS) Business Unit, administrating the transportation operations that support the sale of spare parts and special programs (repair services) with customers and suppliers, ensuring at the same time regulatory customs compliance requirements are met for imports and exports. The area leads cost reduction initiatives, measures and controls the performance and quality of services provided by suppliers through metrics and indicators, schedule and monitors shipments, identifies and implements logistics process improvements, supports selection of suppliers and contract negotiations, administrates and making payments to suppliers, and ensures imports and exports follow customs compliance requirements.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
BA in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or International Trade/Commerce or related areas or equivalent combination of experience. Experience 5 or more years of experience with material importation and exportation processes, having conducted analysis according to the requirements from U.S. government and international agencies. Experience working with CBP, customs brokers and with international customs regulations. Intermediate Level Administrative Professional Contributor on a Project or Work Team.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Regulatory customs compliance, import and export regulations. Knowledge and understanding of exportation and importation processes and regulations (ITAR International Traffic in Arms Regulations, EAR – Export Administration Regulation, TAA – Technical Assistant Agreement, DSP-05, DSP-73, DSP-83, End User Certificates). Knowledge and understanding of logistics and supply chain operations, including documentation (Commercial Invoices, Air Way Bills, SEDs – Shipper’s Export Declaration, and others), SAP, SAP-GTS, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word), ACE/AES Systems.
