SUMMARY The Compliance Specialist ensures continuous monitoring and verification of insurance requirements related to our fleet transportation needs. This role involves verifying insurance coverages, interpreting policy details, and making informed decisions on compliance eligibility. The Compliance Specialist collaborates with policy underwriters to validate coverage specifics, working with contractors and operations to interpret and resolve discrepancies. This role is crucial in maintaining our company’s adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess current contractor insurance coverages to ensure alignment with company requirements, identifying misalignments with our policy and provided coverage documents and working with drivers/contractors to communicate discrepancies. Collaborate with insurance companies and underwriters to decipher insurance coverage details, identify exclusions, interpret coverage, and make informed decisions as they relate to compliance eligibility. Coordinate effectively between insurance companies and driver contractors, clearly relaying and interpreting requirements. Provide informed recommendations to grant or remove compliance eligibility in accordance with company policies. Approve compliance enrollments for contractors, ensuring compliance with company requirements through thorough review. Maintain accurate records of all communications and updates regarding Certificates of Insurance (COIs). Monitor the compliance systems to identify expired and upcoming expired documents, including COIs, driver’s licenses (DL), and DHS cards. Notify appropriate parties (contractors, operations, compliance) promptly about any expired or soon-to-expire documents to ensure timely renewals and compliance is achieved to minimize disruption to operations. Follow up to ensure anyone that becomes out of compliance is well communicated to operations to avoid violation of regulatory and operating requirements.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, or related field preferred. Minimum of three (3) year’s experience in a relevant role in driver compliance, risk management, or similar industry required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with relevant insurance companies and underwriters strongly preferred (ex: commercial auto and property insurance, limited liability, workers compensation, umbrella insurance, etc). Experience with Open Force or similar document vault systems strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to comprehend the scope of insurance policies as they relate to driver qualifications and coverage details. Exhibit high levels of critical thinking in all tasks and decision-making processes. Proficiency in using document management systems and compliance monitoring tools. Familiarity with DOT regulatory requirements. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to learn and effectively use relevant applications. Ability to sufficiently read, speak, and write on a professional level.
