Role:

We are seeking a Special Investigative Unit (SIU) Coordinator to assist in ensuring the integrity and compliance of health care services at Independent Living Systems (ILS). ILS, along with its affiliated health plans known as Florida Community Care and Florida Complete Care, is committed to promoting a higher quality of life and maximizing independence for all vulnerable populations. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Coordinator, under moderate supervision of the SIU Director, provides essential administrative and operational support to the SIU team. The SIU Coordinator will assist in coordinating and documenting investigations, supporting the SIU Analyst and Director, and fulfilling the logistical and clerical needs of investigators. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient operation of ILS’s efforts to identify, detect, and investigate fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) in Medicaid and Medicare Advantage health plans and will have the following responsibilities related to the enterprise’s SIU.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative, coordination, or support role, preferably within a healthcare or compliance-related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and case management systems. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information. Knowledge of general standards, fieldwork, and reporting components related to performance audits and methods and techniques of operational auditing Knowledge of principles and practices of fraud analysis and prevention. Knowledge of statistical methods and techniques of research. Knowledge of HIPAA controls.

Responsibilities:

Assist the SIU team in collecting, organizing, and maintaining case-related documentation and evidence. Perform preliminary data collection and analysis to support investigations. Maintain accurate and organized case management files using designated systems and software. Schedule and coordinate meetings, interviews, and audits with internal and external stakeholders. Prepare and format reports for regulatory agencies and internal use, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Serve as a liaison between the SIU and other departments to facilitate information sharing and coordination.

The required skills for this role include strong organizational abilities, which are essential for managing case documentation, coordinating investigations, and ensuring deadlines are met. Analytical thinking is also important, as the coordinator will assist with preliminary data collection and identifying potential patterns related to fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA). Attention to detail is critical in handling sensitive information, preparing reports, and supporting audit and compliance activities. Preferred skills such as knowledge of healthcare compliance standards, HIPAA regulations, and fraud prevention principles further enhance the coordinator’s ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and support SIU operations effectively.
