Job Description
The Risk and Compliance Specialist will provide direct support to the operations team and assist both our asset and non-asset based companies. This position will support the compliance department with regulatory compliance, training, auditing, and ensuring the company adheres to federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and company policies. The Risk and Compliance Specialist will manage all compliance, insurance and auditing, and will work to implement programs, policies, training initiatives, and standard operating procedures established by R+L Global Logistics management to exceed and support the company’s goals, strategy, and requirements. Risk and Compliance Specialist responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following: Protect the company from financial loss and occurrences that can impact the company’s profit. Facilitate all safety-related testing and recordkeeping. This includes working with the Learning and Development department to issue training. Audit air shipments to ensure compliance with TSA regulations. Work with TSA Authorized Representatives to ensure compliance with RLG corporate standards and IACSSP Regulations. Manage security functions (badges/alarm codes/access control) for all stations. Assist with ensuring the company is compliant with all governmental regulations and bodies including but not exclusive to;
CBP, DHS, DOT, FAA, FDA, FMC, IATA, TSA, OSHA.
Maintain and update training records for all areas of compliance, insurance, hazmat, and safety. Work with all facility management to ensure OSHA compliance. Manage the process for All Risk insurance certificates and obtain required approvals as needed. Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Legal or related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred. Previous compliance and risk management experience preferred. Previous experience with transportation management systems (TMS) preferred; McLeod or Cargowise a plus. General understanding of government regulations, policies or regulations associated with a multi-modal transportation organization. General understanding of General Liability, Auto Liability, and Cargo insurance in order to minimize company risk and support internal and external customer requests. Ability to manage projects. Ability to manage complex situations promptly and professionally. Ability to read, analyze and interpret highly complex regulations and procedures. Ability to field and conduct professional level telephone conferences with all parties. Contributes to building a positive team spirit and puts success of team above own interests. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail and follow-up. Exceptionally driven to protect the company from risk and other litigating issues. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to analyze and recommend company decisions. Ability to deliver the highest level of customer service to internal and external business partners. Ability to multitask and shift focus in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities, meet deadlines, work well under pressure, prioritize work and maintain discretion on confidential matters while maintaining a positive attitude and providing unmatched customer service. Proficient in utilizing various technology platforms, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and video conferencing tools (WebEx, Zoom, Microsoft Teams). Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
