The Difference You Make:

TheSenior Associate will be responsible for a variety of sanctionscompliance activities related to assessing, managing, andresponding to sanctions risk as well as activities supportingsanctions compliance transformation. Acting as an individualcontributor and reporting to the Sanctions Compliance Managerwithin the BSA/AML and OFAC team, this role will also providesubject matter expertise and strategic recommendations related tosanctions compliance. Serve as a subject matter expert on topics related to economicsanctions regulatory requirements, especially those administeredand enforced by the US Department of the Treasury’s Office ofForeign Assets Control (OFAC), to facilitate appropriate complianceacross documents, projects, processes, systems, andinitiatives. Collaborate with a variety of cross functional partners on arange of complex matters and strategic initiatives, providingrelevant sanctions compliance risk expertise. Respond to sanctions related information and analysis requestsreceived from regulatory agencies or internal audit. Manage sanctions related projects including development ofproject documentation (such as business and technical requirements,testing strategies, and testing closure reports) and execution ofsystem testing to ensure business and regulatory requirements havebeen designed in a compliant manner. Support the Bank’s model development team with necessarydocumentation and testing of systems/tools. Perform risk and control assessments, synthesize analyses,identify root cause(s), and provide recommendations to managementon enhancement opportunities across processes and technology. Develop and implement cohesive sanctions list / watchlistmanagement activities, including but not limited to governanceroutines (e.g., watchlist hygiene, authorization for watchlistchanges and use) and ongoing maintenance and monitoring tofacilitate compliance with regulatory expectations as well as theBank’s risk appetite and relevant internal policies. Identify and escalate opportunities to enhance efficiencyand/or effectiveness of sanctions related processes while alsomaintaining compliance with regulatory expectations as well as theBank’s risk appetite and relevant internal policies. Mentor staff to enhance compliance knowledge and relatedcompetencies.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience: Business,Accounting, Finance, International Relations, or equivalent fields

  • Preferred. 9+ Years Compliance, Legal, Regulatory, or Financial Services

Skills and Abilities:

Advanced knowledge of financial crimes compliance broadly, withspecific expertise in economic sanctions regulatory requirements,especially those administered and enforced by OFAC, and relatedfactors influencing the business in which Santander operates. Ability to read, analyze and interpret government regulations,trade journals and legal documents. Knowledge of and experience using sanctions screeningtechnology solutions. Ability to maintain attention to detail while simultaneouslyunderstanding overall strategy. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize,analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information withattention to detail and accuracy. Ability to make effective decisions on complex matters. Ability to maintain and report on confidential information inan appropriate manner. Ability to quickly respond to inquiries from regulatoryagencies, internal partners, and external consultants. Ability to provide ideas and solutions to further businessunderstanding. A highly motivated self-starter who is adaptive and skilled atnavigating the complexities associated with cross-functionalprojects and large organizations. Proven success in working both independently andcollaboratively. Excellent at managing multiple projects and consistentlymeeting deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills with experience building strongrelationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders(including examiners and auditors). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,interacting with non-executive and executive management acrossbusiness lines and control functions. Excellent presentation skills with the ability to articulatecomplex problems and solutions through concise and clearmessaging. Demonstrated experience facilitating change to achievemeasurable results.

Certifications:

CSS, CGSS, CAMS, CFE, CAFP or related.
