Job Description:
Job Summary The compliance engineer position is responsible for resolving all compliance issues in engineering and design as well as the consistent reporting of compliance metrics. You will be responsible for creating compliance programs and executing them, generating applicable compliance documentation, and maintaining our internal components database, our electronic and paper parts folders, and the corresponding compliance-related data within SAP. Experience with both domestic and international policy and law in design engineering and manufacturing is appreciated. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring the Adhesives Packaging Division’s technical compliance with applicable laws and regulations including reporting on compliance testing, developments, and processes.
- Instituting best-practice procedures for compliance evaluation and reporting.
- Explaining and defining compliance protocols and measures to stakeholders and relevant authorities.
- Maintaining Nordson’s parts database, SAP compliance information, and parts files (including contacting suppliers of raw materials, purchased parts, and coatings to evaluate compliance data).
- Researching alternative vendors to find alternate and replacement suppliers for purchased parts.
- Working closely with our Global Trade personnel to help determine ECCN and HTS codes and helping evaluate whether products can be shipped to select countries and/or entities.
- Consistent evaluation of applicable US and EU directives (WEEE, REACH, RoHS, SCIP, CE, UKCA, UL, PFAS, Prop 65, etc.) Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within an Engineering or Manufacturing team (compliance-related experience is preferred). Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in report writing, analysis, and compliance procedures.
- Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks.
- Skilled in business operations and/or project management.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing.
- Solid technical knowledge and understanding of product/process design.
- Problem-solving abilities are essential.
