Portland, ME Are you passionate about creating order from complexity? Do you find purpose in navigating the fine print to ensure an organization runs smoothly, ethically, and legally? Do you thrive on being the trusted go-to person for regulatory guidance, while helping others shine in their roles by removing uncertainty and risk? If this sounds like you, we invite you to explore the opportunity to join our Finance team as a Compliance Specialist—a critical role where your detail-oriented mindset, proactive approach, and collaborative spirit will have a meaningful impact across our entire organization. Allagash Brewing Company in Portland, Maine is hiring a senior individual contributor role, serving as our subject matter expert in compliance, ensuring our operations across manufacturing, wholesale, and retail remain aligned with local, state, and federal regulations in the alcoholic beverage industry. Your work will touch every corner of our business—from maintaining licenses and permits, to ensuring federal filings with the TTB are submitted with accuracy and timeliness. You’ll be the primary advisor to leadership on compliance-related risks and strategies, acting as both a guide and a protector of our values and commitments. You’ll oversee compliance for each area where we do business, including evaluating sales and marketing practices, supporting our export efforts, and leading the licensing process in both Maine and out-of-state territories. Whether it’s crafting standard operating procedures for a product recall, guiding donation practices, or managing bottle bill redemption compliance, you’ll bring confidence and clarity to complex regulatory matters. You’ll work closely with external counsel on matters like trademark registration and contract review while building and maintaining internal systems to organize all compliance documents and processes. In this role, you’ll partner cross-functionally with teams like Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Leadership, ensuring they’re empowered with the information they need to move forward with confidence. You’ll maintain a working knowledge of every state’s regulatory environment, serve as a Power of Attorney with the TTB, hold Notary Public status, and act as an authorized signer for banking and licensing purposes. Your presence on cross-functional teams will help shape strategic decisions—ensuring that compliance isn’t just a checkbox, but a thoughtful part of how we grow and innovate responsibly. This is a full-time position and the schedule is Monday-Friday between regular business hours. This position is based in our Portland office and is 100% in the office for the first 6 months, after which time it will be eligible for a hybrid schedule. We are proud to offer strong wages and comprehensive benefits, including: 100% paid premiums for employee health, dental, life and disability benefits; generous paid time off from day one; paid volunteer time; up to $5,250 annually for continuing education; onsite fitness center and 401(k) with employer match up to 4%. Employees have access to free bus passes, on-site parking, covered bike racks, locker rooms, and showers. We value a diverse workforce and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including those from historically underrepresented communities in craft beer. Allagash is an equal opportunity employer and this position is open to all qualified candidates.
