We are currently seeking a Coding Compliance Specialist to join our Patient Billing Team! Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists Charge Master Analyst-Professional Coding coordinator in the development and implementation of short and long-term work plans and objectives for coding audit and compliance by specialty. Provides back up support for the practice charge coding team. Develops coding/documentation policies for risk areas in accordance with applicable coding rules and regulations. Develops and maintains recommendations for organizational coding policy/procedure revisions. Acts independently to provide specific training and clinical support related to the acquisition, implementation and use of the EHR applications. Works across interdisciplinary project teams and operational staff, building and fostering effective business relationships with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other stakeholders Responds to coding inquiries timely. Researches coding problems and formulates solutions in accordance with applicable coding rules and regulations. Ensures current CPT and ICD10 resources are available to practice managers, coders and providers. Constantly monitors changes and is proactive in ensuring changes are incorporated in the charge master and that practice staff, providers and coders are apprised of and ready for changes in advance. Adheres to local, federal, OIG, and carrier specific guidelines to ensure coding compliance. Conducts patient chart reviews for documentation compliance and coding accuracy. Reports findings and provides education to providers and coders. Follows up as necessary. Utilize information gathered from meetings with providers to recommend new templates or updated to existing templates and other documentation. Determine that providers and relevant support systems are sufficiently capturing services rendered to patients and to assess compliance with Medicare, and other third party requirements for coding and billing purposes Provides on-going coding education and training to clinical and support staff. Assists with new physician orientation as necessary with respect to appropriate coding, documentation, and efficient EHR usage . Maintains strictest confidentiality. Facilitates coding education. Displays cooperative behavior. Interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team environment. Other duties as necessary
Qualifications:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other recognized national certification is required. Working knowledge of
CPT-4, ICD10
coding, and medical billing procedures. Working knowledge of EHR programs eClinical Works and Paragon. Ability to work independently and as a team member with minimal direct supervision and effectively implement oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, clients, & physicians. 5 years medical billing or related experience. York Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
