About the Position
•This is a time limited NS-14 position• This position will act as a Compliance Officer for the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program. The position reports to MMCP in Ridgeland, MS and requires some regional travel within the state. The Regulatory Compliance Officer for the Medical Cannabis Program is responsible for ensuring that licensed medical cannabis businesses comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Site Inspections & Compliance Audits (e.g., conduct regular compliance site visits to licensed facilities (cultivators, processors, transporters, and disposal entities) to assess compliance with regulatory standards; review facility operations, employee records, security systems, product tracking, packaging, labeling, and inventory control for compliance with regulations; document and report findings, including potential violations or areas needing corrective action); Regulatory Monitoring (e.g., monitor licensees’ use of the seed-to-sale tracking system to ensure accurate and timely data reporting; review and investigate discrepancies in cannabis production, transportation, and sales data); Enforcement & Corrective Action (e.g., issue corrective action notices or citations for non-compliance; follow up with licensees to verify completion of corrective actions and escalate enforcement actions when necessary; assist in drafting and sending official correspondence, including warning letters, audit reports, and corrective action plans); and, Education & Outreach (e.g., provide technical assistance to new and existing licensees regarding compliance requirements, regulatory updates, and operational best practices; assist in developing and delivering training materials or presentations on regulatory requirements). Some travel within the State and flexibility in work schedule will be required.
What you’ll need to be Successful
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex compliance issues clearly to stakeholders. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple compliance cases simultaneously. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management systems.
