Job Description
Sr. Retirement Plan Consultant
Compass (Remote / Stratham NH / Hybrid) The Sr. Retirement Plan Consultant position will work behind the scenes on an assigned book of business to perform annual testing, asset valuations, and contribution calculations and prepare required IRS filings. They will be expected to work as part of a team including Relationship Managers, who manage the daily client communications; Compliance Analysts, who assist with daily administrative tasks; and other internal team members. This position has minimal exposure to clients, advisors, and CPA’s.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Delegate the loading of Census and Asset data to Analysts in FT William after completing a preliminary review. Review work of Compliance Analysts and other team members for accuracy to ensure the proper application of plan provisions as outlined in the plan document. Review completed Form 5500’s, 5330’s, and SSA’s. Prepare and/or review the reconciliation of assets and participant accounts. Identify operational errors and plan compliance issues, determine corrections, and instruct corrections to be made to the appropriate Relationship Manager or other staff member. Review and instruct the upload of vesting information to vendor websites to ensure accuracy. Review the completed Valuation Package and prepare summary notes for the Relationship Manager to communicate to the plan sponsor. Identify RMD’s and instruct the Relationship Manager to facilitate payment to participants. Thoroughly track each plan’s projects and intricacies daily within Pension Pro, including notes. Calculate employer contributions and true-up contributions accurately. Perform projections, tests and calculations. Mentor and train Compliance Analysts Collaborate with Team Leaders to manage a book of business including high-profile, complex large clients (MEPs, GOPs, and Controlled Groups) Actively mentor new Relationship Managers. Perform other tasks as requested.

Education and Experience:
5 or more years of progressive experience in retirement plan compliance Demonstrated mastery of all duties and skills noted in the Compliance Consultant job description Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Experience using FT William, Pension Pro, and other retirement plan verification and calculation software platforms required Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of retirement plans and record-keeping platforms
