Global Trade Compliance Specialist V Alexander & Co 22 Century Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37214 Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Trade Compliance Consultant to join our team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in trade regulations, customs compliance, and international logistics. You will provide strategic advice and hands-on support to clients across various industries, helping them optimize their global supply chains while ensuring full regulatory compliance. Duties Advise clients on international trade laws, customs regulations, and compliance requirements (U.S. and international). Interpret and apply customs tariffs (HS codes), rules of origin, valuation methods, and trade agreement eligibility (e.g., USMCA, and other FTAs). Guide clients through import/export documentation requirements, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin. Develop and implement import/export compliance programs and internal controls for clients. Collaborate with internal teams (customs brokerage, freight forwarding, legal, and operations) to consult on trade compliance issues. Stay abreast of regulatory changes (CBP, BIS, OFAC, FDA, USDA, etc.) and communicate relevant updates to clients and team members. Conduct internal and external compliance audits and risk assessments. Deliver training and educational sessions for clients and staff on key topics in global trade. Support clients with classification rulings, binding rulings, and post-entry corrections. Represent clients in communications with government agencies when appropriate. Skills Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field (is a plus). Minimum 5-7 years of experience in international trade consulting, customs brokerage, or freight forwarding. Classification experience using the US HTS, Explanatory Notes, and CROSS Ruling System. U.S. Customs Broker License, Customs Certified Specialist, Customs Export Specialist, or similar certification is a plus. Extensive knowledge of U.S. and international customs regulations and procedures. Familiarity with global trade management systems and classification tools. Experience working with clients in multiple industries (e.g., automotive, electronics, textiles, food & beverage). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts simultaneously. Knowledge of INCOTERMS and global supply chain processes.
