Now Hiring a Capital Markets Portfolio Manager The Capital Markets Portfolio Manager provides relationship management and credit support to a team of Capital Market Officers, including underwriting, execution, and ongoing monitoring of transactions, borrowers and commodities. Responsibilities include performing and managing due diligence activities, industry and market analysis, and financial modeling. Mentors and provides guidance to junior level staff, as appropriate. Supports the achievement of profitability and credit goals for the division through day-to-day management of the portfolio. Position may be in office or remote.
Responsibilities:
Manages the day-to-day activity of an assigned portfolio of existing capital markets accounts. This includes direct communication with other Farm Credit System and commercial bank partners. Coordinates with Capital Market Officers on assigned tasks, including loan analysis, counterparty risk assessments, industry trends, portfolio reporting, and other duties as assigned. Takes the lead role in the completion of a comprehensive analysis commensurate of risk for refinances, amendments, consents and waivers, term conversions and provides recommendations to Capital Market Officers and Association leadership regarding any credit deviations or concerns. Manages and resolves any concerns or documentation issues that arise during the closing process on completed loan actions. Assists Capital Market Officers with communication to critical internal stakeholders. Accurately and timely classifies loans, using risk ratings and loss given default (LGD) guidelines with consideration of third-party ratings and/or Farm Credit System Lead’s classification. Effectively presents to Loan Committee or the appropriate delegated authority level depending on risk profile and commitment exposure. Evaluates risk/return dynamics and credit quality targets for the portfolio. Take corrective action by corresponding and documenting the lead lender’s responses to delinquent accounts as well as updating loan servicing plan, if applicable. Manages compliance monitoring and provides follow-up on covenant violations, reporting exceptions and collateral or documentation deficiencies. Completes or leads other projects and/or research as needed. Complies with all state and federal regulations as well as laws, policies and procedures of the Association, AgFirst District and FCA including but not limited to eligibility, borrower’s rights, scope of financing, collections, renewals, and fundamentals of loan making. Provides assistance with originated credit packages as workflow and capacity allows. To qualify for this position, candidates should possess the following:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or Agriculture; or equivalent work experience.
Work Experience:
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a commercial loan officer, portfolio manager or credit analyst in a financial institution. Capital market and agriculture-related credit work experience is preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of accounting, finance and corporate valuation concepts. Proven ability to analyze credits, contracts, legal documents, technical reports and various deal structures. Skilled in servicing of agribusiness commercial loans. Ability to work independently. Ability to multi-task, with strong planning and organizational skills. Capability of handling high stress situations in a business and professional manner. Ability to negotiate complex transactions.
