Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Credit Analyst to join our finance team and play a critical role in managing credit risk across merchant processing (indirect credit), direct-to-consumer lending, and supporting strategic capital raise initiatives. The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical background, deep understanding of credit markets, and experience in underwriting both merchant and consumer credit.
Key Responsibilities:
Merchant Processing (Indirect Credit): Assist in the application and underwriting process with all potential merchant servicing providers by evaluating existing merchant accounts, using transaction-level data, financial statements, and underwriting guidelines. On-board and maintain merchant processing providers – provider line-up, capacity/utilization, hardware/software, and complete the reconciliation of revenue related to each processor (revenue vertical). Report and monitor ongoing credit exposure related to chargebacks, returns, reserves, settlement risks, and for PCI compliance. Work closely with risk, operations, and compliance teams to implement and refine credit policies for merchant onboarding and portfolio management. Conduct periodic risk reviews and identify deteriorating credit signals to recommend appropriate mitigation strategies. Create and maintain standard operating procedures. Monitor and report on user access and permissions. Consumer Debt (Direct Credit): Underwrite consumer lending applications using credit bureau data, income verification, and internal models. Collaborate with the sales team to refine credit scoring models and loan terms. Report and monitor portfolio performance metrics including: applications, loan book growth, revenue, delinquency rates, pay-offs, charge-offs, and customer repayment behavior. Monitor and report on user access and permissions. Provide insights into customer segmentation and risk-adjusted pricing strategies. Create and maintain standard operating procedures.
Capital Raise Support:
Develop materials and financial analysis to support investor due diligence and capital raise activities (e.g., debt facilities, securitizations, equity raises). Assist in the structuring and evaluation of debt instruments, including loan sale transactions, warehouse lines, etc. Partner with treasury and FP&A teams to align funding strategies with portfolio growth and risk profile.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. 2+ years of experience in credit analysis or underwriting, preferably in fintech, merchant services, or consumer lending. Deep knowledge of credit risk management principles, underwriting standards, and relevant regulatory requirements. Strong financial modeling, Excel, and data analytics skills; experience with SQL, Python, or BI tools is a plus. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated experience supporting capital raise or investor relations efforts is highly desirable.
