Basic Function:

This position is accountable for the entire credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy and periodic credit reviews of existing customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses. Review contracts and approve customer credit limits before orders are acknowledged, mediate customer disputes with amounts owed, contact customers to ensure timely payments, collect delinquent receivables.

Essential Duties:

Oversee issuance of credit, establishing credit-rating criteria, determining credit ceilings, and monitoring the collections of past-due accounts.
Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
Generate financial ratios, using computer programs, to evaluate customers’ financial status.
Consult with customers to resolve complaints and verify financial and credit transactions.
Prepare reports that include the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
Compare liquidity, profitability, and credit histories of establishments being evaluated with those of similar establishments in the same industries and geographic locations.
Review individual or commercial customer files to identify and select delinquent accounts for collection.
Confer with credit association and other business representatives to exchange credit information.
Complete loan applications, including credit analyses and summaries of loan requests, and submit to loan committees for approval.
Analyze financial data such as income growth, quality management, and market share to determine expected profitability of loans.
Audit delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectible to ensure all effort has been made to collect them before assigning to bad debt status
Evaluate customer records and recommend payment plans based on earnings, savings data, payment history, and purchase activity.
Keep current with credit field, anticipate and communicate changes that might affect company.
Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in business is preferred.
+5 years of credit experience is preferred
Experience with credit scoring systems is preferred.

Frequent (36-65%)

Physical Skill & Effort:

Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires infrequent physical effort.
