  • Role Summary/Purpose:
  • As part of Synchrony’s Enterprise Stress Testing team, this individual will manage the execution, analysis and reporting of the Company’s stress testing forecasts.

The VP, Stress Testing is responsible for maintaining and enhancing stress testing methodology and leads the consolidation of the various components of the stress testing inputs. The group partners closely with Financial Planning and Analysis, Credit, Treasury and Tax. This individual will also provide stress testing related financial analysis for the Capital Management Committee and the Risk Committee reviews. Support sensitivity analysis, evaluating the impact of enterprise risks to the company’s financial position, focused on capital. A strong understanding of card economics is preferred. This role provides a great opportunity to continue developing analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, to gain cross-functional broadening experiences working across Capital, Credit and Finance teams.

  • Essential Responsibilities:
  • + Responsible for the execution of the PPNR model for the Capital Plan stress test as well as any additional impact analysis of material risks to capital.

+ Collaborate with FP&A, Credit, Treasury, Tax, portfolio managers, and various other teams on all aspects of PPNR model implementation and the downstream uses of the stress testing results, such as the Risk Weighted Assets calculation and Capital Plan documentation. + Actively engage to promote a simplified process design, supported by appropriate automation that is designed for efficiency and mitigation of operational risk + Maintain and improve the stress testing model. Manage model development analysis and documentation. Work with the model owner to monitor the performance of the model. + Provide financial analysis detailing assumptions, rationale, and projections to various governance committees (Capital Management Committee, Risk Committee, etc.). + Assist in the maintenance of policies, procedures, RCSAs and process maps related to stress testing implementation. + Provide other analysis and support to teams that use the results of the stress testing, e.g., pricing, credit risk oversight, treasury, the recovery and resolution planning team. + Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • + Bachelor’s degree required, Finance, Accounting or related field preferred or in lieu of degree, 12 years relevant experience. + 8 years relevant experience in FP&A, Risk or Capital Planning. + 2 years experience with stress testing and forecasting, understanding of banking and financial products
  • Desired Characteristics:
  • + Overall understanding of consumer credit lending that stretches across revenue and loss line items, with a focus on revolving products (Credit Cards preferred) + Analytical mindset with curiosity for knowledge in Regulatory Capital, Balance Sheet and Liquidity Management etc.

+ Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook + Proven ability to synthesize broad information into targeted deliverables + Strong analytical, reconciliation skills and sense of control and governance + Robust understanding of US economic environment, common macro-economic indicators and correlations to consumer credit performance + Strong verbal and written communication skills + Prior experience with Regulatory interactions and reviews + Ability to manage multiple competing initiatives and deliver results in a timely manner and with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail + Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision and can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.

  • The salary range for this position is
  • 110,000.00 – 185,000.00
  • USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge. Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
  • + You must be 18 years or older + You must have a high school diploma or equivalent + You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process + You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

+ New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
