Summary:
The Loan Servicing Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the consumer and mortgage loan servicing functions to ensure high-quality service, regulatory compliance, and efficient loan portfolio management. This role supports the Loan Servicing Manager in meeting strategic objectives while leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing team. Responsibilities include monitoring sub-servicers, managing delinquent loans, representing the credit union in foreclosure proceedings, ensuring servicing compliance, maintaining servicing standards, and fostering a service-driven, performance-focused culture. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supervisory Leadership & Staff Development
- Support the team in leading, training, coaching, mentoring, and developing loan servicing staff to foster a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and exceptional member service.
- Work proactively alongside the Loan Servicing Manager to carry out the mission and goals of the Loan Servicing department while developing a world-class, service-oriented workforce.
- Oversee new employee onboarding, support in career development planning, and provide feedback to performance reviews to support a culture focused on retention, development, and high performance.
- Empower employees to take ownership of their responsibilities and goals through effective delegation and feedback to ensure accountability.
- Promote teamwork, unity, and conflict resolution to enhance departmental collaboration and productivity.
- Ensure transparent and timely communication through team meetings, one-on-ones, and regular updates.
- Recommend and participate in hiring, promotions, salary adjustments, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Serve and participate in organizational initiatives. Operational Oversight & Compliance
- Support in the day-to-day loan servicing operations including processing, monitoring, and reporting.
- Support in the development, update and enforcement of procedures and schedules to ensure timely and accurate servicing deliverables.
- Support the Loan Servicing manager in ensuring compliance with the functions internal policies, credit union guidelines, and federal/state regulations.
- Assist the Loan Servicing Manager in managing the processing of consumer and mortgage servicing tasks including payment posting, exception processing, payoffs, and insurance escrow administration.
- Assist the Loan Servicing Manager in ensuring accurate administration of insurance loss claims, tax escrow payments, and follow-up on delinquent property taxes.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and assist with internal and external audits (NCUA, investors, etc.).
- Assist the Loan Servicing Manager in coordinating department functions with third-party data service providers and vendors.
- Ensure proper documentation and updates in electronic servicing systems for all loan modifications and borrower communications. Sub-Servicer & Portfolio Management
- Monitor sub-servicer activities for early and late collection efforts, ensuring compliance with investor requirements.
- Evaluate and follow up on performance issues noted in monthly Servicer Success Scorecards.
- Review and recommend loss mitigation options including loan modifications, short sales, and deeds-in-lieu.
- Represent the credit union in legal foreclosure proceedings, mediations, and communications with attorneys, real estate agents, and title companies.
- Manage the Real Estate Owned (REO) loan portfolio and ensure accurate reporting.
- Support accurate and timely member servicing for inquiries, disputes, and problem resolution. Reporting, Planning & Continuous Improvement
- Provides feedback and recommends the development, implementation, and improvement of loan servicing policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Assist the Loan Servicing Manager in monitoring departmental performance metrics and enforce production and service standards.
- Assist in the planning and execution of loan promotions, new product development, and updates to lending policies.
- Assist the Loan Servicing Manager in preparing and presenting reports on servicing activities, loan quality, and application performance to senior management.
- Participate in system testing and implementation efforts related to loan servicing enhancements.
- Review and act on control and exception reports daily. BSA Compliance – every employee is required to uphold the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions within TFCU will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department.
- In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and/or Compliance Departments.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, Identity Theft Red Flag Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending and Credit Card Act.
