The Student Loan Counselor role involves makingoutbound calls to communicate with clients about their federalstudent loans, gathering information, and providing repaymentoption details to borrowers throughout the loan lifecycle. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Makes outbound calls to students and references to counsel themon options to manage student loans and to keep/bring loans to acurrent status through payment, forbearance or deferment Communicates by telephone and/or in writing/email to borrowersto inform them of their responsibilities and the consequences ofdefault Receives predictive telephone dialer system transfers andhandles them within required measures Maintains clear, concise, and accurate documentation ofborrower accounts, including all contact made and received Maintains current and accurate knowledge of laws andregulations affecting the repayment of student loans, including theconsequences of default, and the various payment/deferment optionsavailable to borrowers Updates loan status on Loan Tracker Conducts internet/social media searches to locate new contactinformation for student loan borrowers Participates in work group activities to solve problems orimprove processes Performs other related duties as assignedRequiredQualifications High School diploma or GED At least one year office/business, clerical or customer serviceexperiencePreferred Qualifications 1 year experience working in a call center 1 year working in financial industry, including student loans,collections and/or banking Bilingual in Spanish and EnglishTo perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily.
