Role:
As an Loan Operations Insurance Specialist at United Community Bank, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring our loans are backed by the necessary insurance coverage. You’ll be the go-to person for customers, agents, and colleagues, making sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
What You’ll Do:
Manage Insurance Policies:
Proactively contact agents and customers to obtain current insurance policy information and prevent lender-placed insurance.
Ensure Data Accuracy:
Maintain accurate records related to collateral and insurance requirements.
Calculate Coverage:
Determine and validate adequate insurance coverage requirements.
Compliance:
Ensure all loans and insurance comply with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate:
Work with the Centralized Flood team to resolve flood zone disputes.
Communicate:
Keep lenders, credit partners, and customers informed to ensure proper coverage.
Support:
Provide ongoing support for insurance-related questions.
Monitor:
Oversee shared inbox and insurance queue to process submissions promptly.
Track Activity:
Monitor vendor reports for all consumer, mortgage, and commercial loan insurance activity.
Review Policies:
Validate the timeliness and accuracy of lender-placed insurance policies.
Process Transactions:
Assist with processing and reconciling weekly insurance premiums and refunds.
Assist Managers:
Support relationship managers with insurance due diligence items.
Stay Informed:
Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training.

Align with the bank’s vision, mission, and culture; maintain professionalism at all times.

What We’re Looking For:
Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience with retail and commercial lending regulations and policies.
2+ years in loan documentation, due diligence, and processing.
Proficient knowledge of regulatory insurance requirements, especially flood insurance per the Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA).
Understanding of insurance policies and various coverage types.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of federal and state banking regulations.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication with lenders and LOAs across all business lines.
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Up to 5% travel required.
