Hellmann is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Customs Brokerage Operations Apprentice to join our growing team in Miami, Florida. This entry-level position offers a comprehensive training program designed to equip the successful candidate with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the fast-paced world of international trade and customs brokerage. The apprentice will learn all aspects of the import process, from initial documentation and compliance to customs clearance and final delivery. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Learn ISF template/Customs Bond/Insurance application review. Study ISF SOP for clients and assist with ISF filing. Learn ISF Bond procedures and review match/no-match reports. Understand ISF filing as a freight forwarder. Learn to review client IOR profiles and check shipment ETAs. Review and understand import entry documents. Learn shipment classification basics and certificate importance. Determine STB/CB needs for IORs. Learn to input shipment data into the CHB database. Assist with electronic transmission to Customs/PGA. Learn initial steps in troubleshooting Customs/PGA holds. Learn to identify LTL/LCL vs. FTL/FCL shipments. Assist in coordinating delivery with customers and trucking companies. Learn to identify special delivery needs/equipment. Learn to confirm PGA releases and understand POD importance. Develop understanding of world geography and cultural customs in business. Learn clear, idiom-free communication for international interactions. Understand international time/date differences. Learn culturally sensitive customer service techniques. Maintain accurate records and adhere to company/regulatory policies. Demonstrate proactive learning and professional development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Ability to learn new software and systems quickly. A strong interest in international trade and logistics.
