Supervisor, Customs Brokerage Omnitrans inc. Metro Customs Brokers, a subsidiary of Omnitrans Inc., is looking for Supervisor, Customs Brokerage to join our Processing Team in US Customs Brokerage division.

Location :

NY City area, Garden City, Rouses Point, Buffalo.

This person will:

Ensure adherence to directives from senior management and oversee the timely achievement of established objectives within the allocated resources and specified deadlines. Coordinate with team members and delegate responsibilities to ensure effective execution of assigned tasks. Support the Manager in upholding and surpassing service standards, while ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of operational processes across all levels.

Responsibilities:

Team Management Supervise a team of approximately ten (10) employees in a Hybrid Work model to motivate and develop the team members to their maximum potential. Lead the full Performance Management Program (PMP) cycle which includes the setup of annual SMART objectives at the beginning of the year, the mid-year review, the year-end review, and the development plan for each member of the team. Provide results of team assessments to manager/director. Supervise and help resolve escalations and operational issues, while guiding the team members to become autonomous and creative in problem solving. Coach and develop team members’ skills set, provide feedback on performance on an on-going basis. In collaboration with the Manager, establish expected production levels for team members and work with them to meet these goals. Assist the Team Lead in handling day-to-day tasks and managing the service team members as needed. Continuously evaluate all operations processes for efficiency. Identify areas for improvement and share them with the manager/director. Support departmental/organizational decisions and help the manager in communicating/cascading information to the team members and operationalizing the strategy to generate results. Support the manager in assessing training needs, ensure that the training programs are actively being followed, and that specific training needs are met. Support the Manager in developing specific performance improvement plans (PIP) for employees when needed, ensuring that team members have adequate training.

Operational Responsibilities:

Ensure that the Service Excellence Value is embedded in the service provided to internal and external clients of the department. Assist the Manager in overseeing process workflow and ensuring timely and efficient service delivery. Ensure timely and efficient preparation of entries for release/entry summary and minimize release times and address process errors with the teams. Ensure that work is evenly distributed, all shipments are accounted for. Demonstrate in depth knowledge of Metro’s workflow and regulatory procedures; ensure these are being followed by processing staff (Order of Documents, 5-day Rule, Considerations for Cargo Release, Recordkeeping, etc.) Various accounting functions as they relate to any of the above (i.e. consignee IRS, steel license, ADD/CVD). Ensure that all customs entries are accounted for within the prescribed timeframe. Communicate efficiently and effectively with all levels of internal staff. Continually evaluate all operational processes for efficiency and identify areas of improvement. Ensure that all shipments are handled in a timely manner and that the work is evenly distributed among the staff to maintain a consistent workflow. Assist the Manager with projects.

What You Bring:

Completion of vocational or technical degree 7+ years relevant experience, including 3 years in a leadership position. Completion of CCS certification Ability to multitask, organize, lead, motivate, and coach. Thorough understanding of International Business and trading practices Strong problem-solving skills, ability to identify root causes and find positive solutions. Ability to supervise a 24/7 team Commitment to continuous improvement
