Charleston Job Summary/ Key Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
The Import Documentation Clerk – Import Declaration is responsible for the insertion of the inward cargo manifest in MSC USA’s system, as well as its submission to US Customs to comply with the advance cargo declaration.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Inserts the manifest into OVA. Submits the manifest to Customs for Direct and FROB cargo. Ensures the manifest is accepted by Customs and rejections are treated. Checks report to ensure vessel is departed from POL. Checks report to ensure vessel is arrived with Customs at the POD. Submits BAPLIE file to Customs. Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Required skills, experience, education Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
English:
advanced Strong attention to details Organized, efficient, and able to manage time effectively Strong customer service mindset, focused, and responsive Ability to work under tight deadlines Great team player Knowledge of MS Excel with the ability to learn new software Preferred skills, experience, education Prior experience in Import/export documentation, transportation, or logistics customer service experience, preferably ocean import documentation experience preferred.
