Salary/Hourly Rate:
$180k – 220k DOE plus discretionary bonus
Position Overview:
We’re seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead and oversee the firm’s accounting department. This individual must bring extensive law firm accounting experience and have a successful track record managing large teams (25+ staff). This person will report directly to the CFO. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a high-volume, fast- paced environment. A CPA designation is a strong plus. Responsibilities of the
Director of Accounting:
Lead and oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, financial reporting, A/R, A/P, and trust accounting. Supervise, mentor, and manage a team of 25+ accounting professionals. Prepare and review financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP. Perform and review cash to GAAP conversions and adjustments. Partner with executive leadership to develop and manage firmwide budgets and forecasts. Ensure compliance with internal controls, firm policies, and industry best practices. Liaise with external auditors, tax professionals, and other third-party partners. Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations. Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data and reporting. Required Experience/Skills for the
Director of Accounting:
10+ years of progressive accounting experience. Must have recent law firm experience. Proven experience managing a team of 25 or more. In-depth knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting. Demonstrated experience with cash to GAAP conversions. Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills. High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Preferred Experience/Skills for the
Director of Accounting:
CPA designation (preferred, not required). Experience with E3 software or similar legal accounting platforms. Familiarity with trust accounting and legal billing systems.
