Director of Accounting Position Available In Lee, Florida

Director of Accounting We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead the accounting operations for a prominent master-planned community in the Fort Myers area. The ideal candidate will be a licensed CPA with a strong background in real estate development accounting, including construction accounting, GAAP compliance, and budgeting/forecasting. This individual will oversee accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, job costing, and monthly close processes. Lead the development and management of annual budgets and rolling forecasts. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. Manage construction accounting processes, including tracking of development costs, draws, and capitalization. Work cross-functionally with development, operations, and executive teams to support financial decision-making. Supervise and mentor accounting staff; provide leadership and ensure adherence to best practices. Develop and implement internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data. Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals as needed. Requirements CPA license required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s a plus). Minimum 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting/forecasting, and real estate accounting. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with Yardi, MRI, or other real estate accounting platforms.
