Job Summary This position is located on the Macon campus and reports to the Executive Director of Finance and is responsible for assisting all facets in the university’s accounting functions. Responsibilities Assists with the University’s Financial Reporting
- Assists in preparation of the Annual Financial Report (AFR). Assists in overseeing year-end closing processes. Assists in reporting financial data to the Board of Regents. Prepares and reviews journal entries (as requested and month-end). Serves as the secondary contact with external auditors. Prepares and Maintains Reconciliations of Banking and Financial Account Records
- Prepares monthly operating and money market bank reconciliations. Prepares TIGA salary and travel reconciliation. Prepares reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts. Prepares and reviews journal entries (as requested and month-end). Coordinates and Supervises Work Staff
- Prepares and reviews journal entries. Prepares wire transfers. Answers telephone calls and emails; determines nature of requests and responds accordingly. Attends meetings. Administers Security for Financial and Banking Applications
- Administers security for the University’s instance of GeorgiaFIRST Financials.
Administers security for the University’s instance of OneUSG HCM. Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. Required Experience Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience. Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications Pursuit of CPA license is encouraged. Preferred Educational Qualifications Master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of state and federal financial reporting requirements. Knowledge of Board of Regents business policies. Knowledge of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OCGA). Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines. Knowledge of university policies and procedures. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority. Skill in organization and project management. Skill in decision making and problem solving. Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public. Skill in oral and written communication.
