Job Description:
Full-time, year-round position to coordinate student financial aid eligibility issues, manage federal direct loan and scholarship programs, provide financial aid counseling, and maintain system functions to ensure accuracy and compliance. Monday
- Friday 8 am
- 5 pm (9 am
- 6 pm possibly, as needed).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Exhibits good communication skills and cooperation with all College staff as a participating member of the Student Services team. Manages Federal Grant program, including processing applications, certifications, awards, transmittals, account reconciliations, and default management for both PELL and SEOG. Processes Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG), and state and local scholarships, as directed by Director of Financial Aid. Processes and oversees Institutional, State, and Foundation Scholarship programs. Processes Title IV Return of Funds (R2T4) relating to student withdrawals. Acts as backup for verifying and monitoring daily data loads between U.S. Department of Education (ED) and Banner. Collects all generated reports and distributes to appropriate staff for review. Gathers data and prepares regular scheduled reports, including graphics, related to financial aid operations, student aid account reconciliations, financial aid outcomes assessment, unit action plans, and institutional effectiveness efforts. Verifies and monitors the daily data loads between U.S. Department of Education (ED) and Banner. Collects all generated reports and distributes to appropriate staff for review. Manages the Federal Direct Loan program, including processing applications and certifications, awarding, transmittals, account reconciliations, and default management. Monitors targeted individual students’ eligibility and resolves data conflicts and over awards. Makes presentations, leads workshops, and disseminates information regarding College/Financial Aid in high schools and other community agencies; conducts recruitment efforts to promote financial aid availability and to encourage students to apply and advance educationally. Represents the Financial Aid Office at conferences, business meetings, and training sessions. Utilizes professional judgment on a case-by-case basis to adjust student eligibility based on documented mitigating circumstances in accordance with federal statutes. Maintains current knowledge of federal and state regulations related to financial aid programs to ensure compliance. Provides financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding all aspects of the financial aid process, including loan entrance and exit, repayment, and consolidation options. Makes necessary referrals to other student services. Creates brochures and other advertising materials, notifies webmaster of financial aid updates, and manages portal information for various financial aid programs. Participates in the development of institutional financial aid policies and procedures to positively impact efficiency and quality of services provided. Assists Director, Financial Aid in ensuring that departmental policies and procedures manual(s) are current and complete. Assists with overall effectiveness of the Financial Aid Office, especially during peak processing times and with high priority, time-sensitive projects. Contributes to unit planning, assessment, and college institutional effectiveness efforts. Acts in accordance with local, state, and federal laws/regulations as well as College policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Educational:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required.
Experiential:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial services required; preferably in an educational environment. Must have experience working with integrated data systems. Banner experience desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office with particular emphasis on database and spreadsheet applications required. Experience working directly with diverse populations and providing quality customer service in a high traffic work environment required.
Other:
Position demands energy, flexibility, strong detail-oriented skills and ability to see a task through to its completion. Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable .
