Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator, Student Financial Aid – Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Responsible for the administration of all Foundation Scholarships managed by the Financial Aid Office, as well as the coordination of Foundation Scholarships administered by the University’s colleges and departments. Coordinate the posting of information on the Scholarship Universe website for all available scholarships. Organize committees comprised of various FAU administrators to select eligible scholarship applicants. Analyze the Endowment Report provided by the FAU Foundation to determine the availability of funds. Process student awards in Banner and coordinate disbursements according to eligibility criteria and appropriate deadlines. Verify disbursement reports to ensure that disbursement amounts agree with revenue transferred from the Foundation and notify the Foundation to retrieve any unused funds. Oversee and manage Florida Atlantic Cares Emergency Scholarship. Interpret, promulgate, and implement policies applicable to the federal, state, and university financial aid programs, as well as rules and regulations established by the FAU Foundation and scholarship donors. Ensure compliance with the administration of Foundation Scholarships. Oversee the compliance of the Foundation Scholarship and the Recruitment Scholarship Programs. Recommend to the Director and Associate Director policies and procedures that are required to facilitate the administration and delivery of Foundation scholarships to students. Develop, update, and communicate policies, procedures, and regulation changes to all staff as necessary for areas of responsibility. Serve as liaison between the office of Student Financial Aid, FAU Foundation, and FAU departments. Interacts daily with any and all offices engaged in admitting, awarding, and disbursing financial aid to students, including the Controller’s Office, Admissions Office, and Registrar’s Office. Award financial aid to students in compliance with federal, state, Foundation Scholarship Donors, university, and FAU Foundation regulations and policies. Monitor Foundation funds. Manage expected spending for Foundation accounts and monitor to meet targets. Maintain financial statements in each financial aid applicant’s file, which may contain sensitive, personal, and family information that must not be disclosed to the public or unauthorized family members, as stated in the Privacy Act. Assist with reconciliation of all Financial Aid smart tags used to manage Foundation accounts. Provides financial aid counseling for a selected alpha population of students. This includes processing of awards, revision requests, satisfactory academic progress appeals, counselor reports, and professional judgments. Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required. Credit screening required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Customer Service experience. Student financial aid higher education aid experience.
