GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The College Advisor will provide guidance and support to high school students as they prepare for college. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the college application process, financial aid, and scholarships. The College Advisor will work closely with students and their families to help them navigate the complex process of applying to college and finding the best-fit schools for their individual goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred Minimum of 3 years of working with High School Students, experience in college admissions, college advising, or a related field

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong organizational skills Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people Experience in developing and leading workshops and presentations Knowledge of college admission policies and procedures Experience with financial aid and scholarship application process Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends Proficiency in relevant computer applications and technology Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with trends and best practices in college advising
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Coordination and Collaboration:
Develop and implement a comprehensive college advising program for high school students Prepare individualized four-year plans for all students Oversee the dual enrollment and advanced placement programs Advise students and families on the college search process, including college selection, application preparation, and essay writing. Provide information on financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and assist students in completing financial aid forms. Organize and lead workshops on college admissions, standardized tests, and college readiness. Establish and maintain relationships with college admissions officers, financial aid officers, and scholarship organizations. Organize student college visits and bring in guest speakers Track and analyze college admissions data to improve the college advising program and assist in developing strategic partnerships with colleges and universities. Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, including test scores, transcripts, and application deadlines.
Program Evaluation:
Evaluate the effectiveness of the college advising program and make necessary improvements to ensure student success. Collect and analyze college application, acceptance, and scholarship awards data.
Compliance:
Stay informed of federal and state regulations related to college admissions, financial aid, and scholarships, and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of student records and comply with all applicable privacy laws and regulations.
Professional Development:
Participate in relevant professional development activities, conferences, and training opportunities to stay current with best practices in college advising and related fields. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package. The College Advisor will report to the High school Assistant Principal of Academics and work closely with teachers, counselors, and administrators. The position may require occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate student and family schedules.
