Job Description

Position TitleFinancial Analyst IStatusFull TimeJob SummaryTo perform financial management and accounting functions of assigned grants, contracts and agreements. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, guidance and requirements and the Universitys policies and procedures.

Essential Job Duties

  • Interpret and enforce grant policies and procedures of externally sponsored agencies and Tuskegee University
  • Prepare financial reports and invoices on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis as assigned funding agencies require
  • Prepare monthly drawdown reports for reimbursable expenditures for grants on Letter of Credits Record grant receivables for assigned grant accounts monthly
  • Set up grant budget and revision to the general ledger at the request of the principal investigators
  • Review and approve all expenditure documents for cost principles compliance (personnel action forms, check requests, requisitions, student scholarships, student employment, etc.
  • Reconcile and monitor grant expenditures, revenues, and receivables monthly
  • Monitor for unallowable cost transactions and prepare necessary corrections, monthly
  • Assist faculty with post-award financial analysis related to grants and contracts
  • Maintain grants and contract files for assigned funding agencies for at least 3 years
  • Calculate and record indirect costs to the general ledger monthly
  • Closeout grants and contracts
  • Learn and apply emerging technologies and, as necessary, perform duties efficiently, organizationally and timely
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field
  • At least two years of accounting experience related to grants, financial reporting, invoices and expenditures
  • Accounting experience related to financial accounting, reporting, and invoicing
  • Experience in Cost Principles requirements and criteria for grants and contracts.

  • Experience working with and interpreting federal regulations and policies
