Job Summary:
Perform activities within portfolio management and underwriting as the first line of defense for the Restaurant Finance credit team, including providing ongoing credit servicing, portfolio monitoring and problem loan identification within the Synovus risk framework. Ensures adherence to the Wholesale risk philosophy, risk appetite and lending strategies. Assists Credit Risk Managers and Bankers on underwriting/structuring and approval of new and renewed credit opportunities, as well as waivers and modifications. Monitor industry trends and respond to changes in the market while ensuring team awareness of new risks and market opportunities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Works closely with Bankers and Credit Risk Managers in the assessment of client credit risks as well as industry risks and trends. Prepares in-depth analyses of client financial statements, historical and projected operating performance, business plans, capital structures and other supplemental information from a wide variety of sources. Responsible for ongoing monitoring of the existing portfolio, including preparing thorough servicing reviews and maintaining all financial/monitoring tickler/exception reporting. Provides a cohesive and comprehensive approach to reviewing/assigning risk ratings while maintaining updated industry research. Responsible for monitoring of receipt of current and adequate financial statements and conducts timely covenant compliance reviews. Completes financial spreads and ensures timely uploads to internal databases/systems. Assists Credit Risk Managers in preparation of analysis and structuring of credit requests for clients and prospects. Assists in developing client assessments including in-depth analyses of financial data and other information provided by the client. Assists with projection modeling, stress testing and other analyses using research and evaluations from internal/external resources. Ensures all transactions and processing are in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines, policies and procedures. Assists with preparing documentation for loan discussion, approval, and committee presentation purposes at direction of Credit Risk Managers. Works with Wholesale Loan Operations team regarding booking of new and amended deals, as well as waivers and modifications. Assists with all necessary documentation to complete the closing process. Helps drive and support innovation and continuous efficiency improvements. Participates in special projects as required. Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion. Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum Experience One year of experience as a Wholesale Credit Risk Analyst; or graduate of Synovus’ Accelerated Banker program; or two years of credit analysis experience.

Strong analytical and financial modeling ability Strong organizational skills Strong verbal and written communication skill Proficiency using Microsoft Office software products including advanced Excel modeling skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Experience in Restaurant, and/or multi-unit retail industries. Experience in cash flow lending, leveraged and/or sponsor-backed transactions. Familiarity with Moody’s Credit Lens and nCino.
