This job is responsible for performing the financial clearance along with conducting a comprehensive analysis of patient payer specific benefits and patient liability. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating and clarifying the available financial resources for patient care; referral, consultation, evaluation, listing transplantation, and continuing after transplantation to ensure continuity of care. Additionally, this job works with other members of the transplant team, insurers, and administrative personnel at the hospital. This job ensures the best patient experience is received through timely and accurate assistance.   • 3 years’ experience in customer service, healthcare, or office experience, including insurance authorization experience Preferred

Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout required job processes. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, keyboard, and various software packages specific to role (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint). Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced ever changing and stressful environment. Ability to remain calm, professional, and maintain strict confidentiality in high pressure/stressful situations regarding patient financial and medical conversations. Ability to provide coaching and constructive feedback. Ability to work with minimal supervision and makes independent decisions. Job Duties Serves as a liaison between the patient, providers, internal and external departments or other responsible person(s) to obtain, monitor, and update detailed insurance benefit information for all phases of the transplant process (including insurance coverage and authorizations, denials and appeals). Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work to discuss with patients their insurance coverage in relation to the importance of their financial responsibility. Educates the patients on various available assistance options, as well as explain the financial impact of various alternatives. Promptly and courteously discusses benefits and other transplant financial issues with patients or family members via face to face, e-mail, fax, regular mail correspondence, or phone call before, during, and after the transplant process(es). Provides Best in Class service to every patient inquiry received to ensure and maintain high levels of patient satisfaction. Must represent the Organization by providing appropriate/applicable levels of competency and professionalism to ensure all patient issues are resolved timely, accurately and efficiently. Participates in Transplant Team meetings, Evaluation and Listing Clinics, Patient Review Committee, Hospital Interdisciplinary Rounds, discharge planning, and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI). Provides routine support with new hire and on-going staff training/coaching for transplant staff. Other job duties as assigned.
