The opportunity:
As a key member of the Expense Management team, contribute to the successful delivery of accurate, timely Accounting and Finance activities across Sun Life central and corporate functions How you will contribute: Contribute to the successful completion of month-end close, quarterly, and annual close processes in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain a results-oriented approach to ensure that deadlines and initiatives are met, based on a comprehensive understanding of all associated processes, systems, functions and timelines. Drive to identify and eliminate exceptions throughout the period, quarterly and annual accounting processes. Focus on understanding the basis for the transactions and the business impacts of the accounting activities. Maintain accounting activities for central functions intercompany reconciliations, intercompany invoicing and reporting. Maintain treasury functions for the intercompany accounting department. Prepare year-end and quarterly intercompany expense exhibits needed for the US regulatory agencies and footnote disclosures Prepare year-end and quarterly intercompany expense exhibits needed for the US regulatory agencies and footnote disclosures Perform research and appropriate follow up on more complex reconciling items, actively communicating with customer business units to assure mutual understanding of the accounting impacts and decisions taken. Maintain accounting activities through the full accounting cycle, to include variance and flux analysis, research and other special projects as needed. Provide support to team members and associates to assure all period goals are attained on a consistent basis. Participate in interim and year end audits. Assist management with preparation of work papers and responses to engagement inquiries. Support Central Finance constituents with special projects, research assignments, problem resolution and information requests, as needed. What you will bring with you: Ability to work with a diverse group of people Minimum BS/BA in Accounting or Finance. 3-5 years of relevant financial accounting, auditing and analysis experience Thorough understanding of accounting standards. Exceptional follow through and attention to detail. Capable of working independently, effectively prioritizing concurrent deliverables and deadlines. Excellent communication skills – oral, written, listening, facilitation. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, EXCEL & PowerPoint) and experience with Essbase/SmartView, Tableau, and SAP a plus. Demonstrated background in teamwork and use of collaborative skills as a team member
Salary:
$61,500 – $92,300
