OVERVIEW:

The General Government Service Center (GGSC) is one of five financial service centers within the Department of Administrative and Financial Services established to provide centralized accounting and budgeting services to agencies across state government. GGSC customers include the Department of Administrative and Financial Services (including Information Technology, Real Estate, Purchases, Lottery, Alcohol and Cannabis), the Governor’s Office, the Department of Economic and Community Development, the Department of Education, various Boards and Commissions as well as the Cultural Agencies-a mix of government entities that adds variety to standard accounting practices.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary focus of the Financial Analyst is to provide financial and consultative, professional advice and expertise about significant issues to agency and executive management. This position may provide leadership for selected activities or projects, but the primary focus is to provide financial and consultative expertise. This position provides specialized expertise on various administrative, legislative, or policy matters and their impact. The scope of responsibility is well defined by statute, regulation, grant or agency policy and the issues are moderately complex. Responsibilities include consulting, evaluating, and integrating operational practices, procedures, and activities in support of outcomes of policy or program initiatives, and may include providing leadership on selected activities involving other personnel, task force or committees, advocates, or members of the public. This position supports the following processes and reports: Budget orders; financial orders, work programs, supplemental/biennial budgets, cash/lapsed balance trends, weekly allotment status, personal services monitoring and ad hoc GGSC information request.
