JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for complex duties involving compiling, developing, posting, analyzing, and reporting financial information for the Medical Center in the Corporate Accounting Office.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree, preferably accounting or finance related and four years’ progressive experience in financial analysis or accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Experience in healthcare preferred. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or

REGISTRATION

CPA Certificate preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervises, coordinates, and participates in the preparation of complex consolidated financial statements, management’s monthly financial statement analysis reports and other various financial reports. Analyses are sent directly to senior leadership and external agencies. Responsible for the monthly closing activities including the posting of journal entries and reconciliation of complex general ledger accounts. Gathers, compiles, and prepares information for complex financial reports, analyses, and graphs for use by Medical Center management. Participates in business/financial/operational plan development and analysis. Participates in meetings providing input as appropriate. Assists senior staff with projects and presentations of complex financial information. Maintains effective liaison with internal departments, Medical Center/ NCBH/ WFUHS /Subsidiaries, external auditors, etc. for the purpose of identifying, assembling, and analyzing financial information. May perform lead role in coordinating complex projects by overseeing the work of others. Understands industry trends, networks with colleagues at other institutions, and evaluates the impact of operating initiatives on the financial status of the Medical Center. Participates in the mentoring of accounting staff and others throughout the organization in the use of complex accounting reports and tools to assist in the management of the organization. Research and documents position memos on complex technical accounting issues. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Provides oversight of capital expenditure processing, ensuring all related financial information is reported timely and accurately and is recorded appropriately in the general ledger and subsystems, including monthly reports and schedules. Responsible for financial statement Property and Equipment, net on the Balance sheet, Depreciation and amortization, Gain and Loss on Disposal, Non-cash donations, Purchases and sales of property and equipment, and Fixed assets payable as of the end of year and all other required footnotes related to fixed assets, included Property, Plant & Equipment Serves as the key contact for Financial Services to ensure capital policies and procedures are understood and followed through the capital life cycle, this includes Software (on-prem and cloud based). Ensures compliance of capital policies through the Medical Center provided Project team support/liaison with departments across the Medical Center. Owner of recording Federally funded assets and other restricted funded assets, ensuring expenses are capitalized timely and accurately. Recording of no title assets that need tracking for federal and grant requirements. Responsible for month-end closing entries, including additions, cost adjustments, disposals, and depreciation for all BU’s. Assist with annual property tax filings by compiling necessary data for the tax team. Responds to audits, tax, cost reports, insurance, and survey requests as it pertains to fixed assets, preparing schedules for support and providing reports as required. Provides assistance with internal financial reporting and external financial reporting. Must be versed in the FASB Lease Reporting changes and assist with reporting of disclosures for audit, footnotes and other schedules related to operating and finance lease reporting and accounting. Assists in forecasting and budgeting of depreciation expense. Participates in special and complex projects as requested.
