DEQ has an open opportunity for a Finance and Business Compliance Analyst II. This position is Exempt from the Human Resources Act (EHRA ) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with applicable State Benefits .• This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management. This position reviews the activities of local governments funded by the Department Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure. As an Analyst II, this position works primarily on reviewing, auditing and evaluating complex construction projects for local government units that are receiving funds from the Department of Environmental Quality.

Other Key Responsibilities:

Ensure construction and engineering service invoices are within the scope of previously approved projects. Review of construction and engineering service disbursement requests are allowable costs for each funding program. Provide technical assistance and consulting to local governments receiving Department funds to promote continued financial and grant compliance. Identify and manage appropriate data collection processes.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related discipline from an accredited institution and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
