Job Description Summary
Under the general supervision of the Bursar, completes job duties and assignments accurately and timely within established deadlines, GAAP guidelines, MUSC, State, and Federal policies and procedures. Works collaboratively with members of the Controller’s Office, other university staff, and external parties. Manages and performs high-level professional accounting duties to create and maintain accounting transactions requested from University-wide sources. Maintains knowledge of current Federal and State laws and regulations to ensure compliance; performs multiple complex accounting functions and serves as a senior accounting staff member for the Bursar’s Office.

Job Description
Manages student billing process, prepares complex computerized billing tables, resolves billing problems, and improves processes. Coordinates schedule for student billing with other University stakeholders and initiates Bursar’s Office term billing/payment communications to students and colleges. Completes complex term True Up according to Board of Trustees-approved tuition and fee schedules for each College/Program. Calculates and provides details to the Budget Office three times a year for budget entries. Manages the 1098-T process for the Bursar’s Office and maintains knowledge of the 1098-T rules and regulations. Manages communication process for 1098-Ts with students, former students, third-party vendors, and the campus. Accurately and timely completes monthly reconciliations by the 12th working day of the month in accordance with Key Process Indicator. Reconciles MUSC Foundation scholarship records, records revenue, and bills the MUSC Foundation monthly for scholarships. Assist with the preparation of year-end audit reports. In coordination with the Office of Financial Aid, applies the principles of accounting theory to perform complex and accurate professional accounting duties in the completion of the annual FISAP report.

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree and four years of professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance, or commercial lending. A job-related bachelor’s degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for two years of the required work experience.
