Administrative Job Summary The Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Analyst to join the Department of Finance and Administration. In this dynamic role, you will oversee all financial operations and controls for the College, ensuring financial integrity and supporting key decision-making. As the primary backup for the Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, and Director of Finance, you will play a crucial part in maintaining seamless financial operations across the department. The Financial Analyst will work closely with senior leadership and collaborate on special projects both within ETSU and with the Medical Education Assistance Corporation (MEAC). This role offers a unique opportunity for growth and advancement, with the potential for promotion based on exemplary performance and contributions. Key responsibilities include preparing financial reports, analyzing budgets, forecasting, and assisting in the development of financial strategies that align with the goals of the college. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of financial controls, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of budget management including developing budgets, developing spreadsheets, and analysis in preparation for budgetary submission
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial concepts.
Knowledge of budget development, management, and analysis.
Knowledge of the ETSU budgeting process
Knowledge of ETSU purchasing policies and procedures
Knowledge of managing revenues and expenditures.
Ability to extract data for analysis and make recommendations on financial issues.
Ability to create and understand complex formulas and pivot tables
Ability to assist others in budget, development, and management.
Ability to articulate multifaceted formulas so they are easily understood
Ability to communicate in written and oral format.
Ability to maintain working relationships with diverse groups at all levels of the university
Ability to manage and develop excellent time management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Ability to work productively on several projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
Working knowledge of Banner, eBucs, and ePrint systems
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Three (3) years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a similar role.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Four (4) years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a similar role.
Experience in healthcare finance or in a medical or academic setting is highly preferred
