Manager Financial Accounting Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama United States, Alabama, Birmingham Jun 25, 2025 Overview Department Overview The Accounting and Finance Division supports the company’s financial performance by developing innovative ways to save time and money, as well as providing timely and accurate financial reports for strategic business decisions. Primary Responsibilities The Manager of Financial Accounting and Reporting is responsible for the direction and oversight of the Financial Accounting and Reporting unit. Major responsibilities associated with this position include ensuring timely and accurate reporting of the Company’s financial information, transactions, and financial filings with State and Federal regulators. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring compliance with Department of Insurance (DOI), National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), and Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) accounting and reporting requirements as well as any applicable local, state, or federal laws. Summary of Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Three years accounting and/or auditing experience
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Statutory Accounting Principles, and government regulations
Experience in a position preparing, analyzing, and presenting financial data
Experience in a position interpreting and communicating information orally and written
Experience in a position utilizing Performance Management
Experience in a position interacting with all levels of associates and management
Experience using problem solving skills to make sound decisions in unclear situations
Experience in a position organizing workflow
Knowledge of general ledger systems and related processes preferred
Knowledge of the products and services offered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama preferred
Experience in a supervisory or leadership position preferred
