This role, which reports to the Company’s Controller, involves managing a team of accounting reconciliation professionals, implementing effective reconciliation processes, and providing assurance on general ledger accounts activity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to lead and develop a team. This role leads the assessment over existing processes, and advising on a possible potential selection and implementation of new advanced solutions, enabling improvements for effectiveness and efficiencies.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the reconciliation of all financial accounts, including federal reserve and third-party payments, general ledger accounts, and intercompany transactions. Responsible for periodic account reconciliation certifications in accordance with company policies and procedures. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data through regular reviews and audits. Develop and implement effective reconciliation processes and controls to mitigate financial risks. Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Main driver of collaboration with other departments required to resolve exceptions, timely clearance of pending items, and continued process improvements, including analysis of available market tools for eventual implementation in support of enhancements to current process. Responsible for reconciliation monitoring activities, including the preparation and presentation of reports on reconciliation activities, key performance and risk indicators, including items requiring escalationlevation, and findings to senior management. Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to financial reconciliations and assurance. Assist other teams in the accounting department in the preparation of stand-alone and consolidated financial statements and supporting external audit requirements. Develops and maintains manuals of policies and procedures for the unit/department. Responsible for recruitment, and training and education activities tailored to the needs of the unit/department. Certifications Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field is required. Professional certification such as CPA or equivalent certification are preferred and considered a plus.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements:
Seven+ years of experience in accounting with a focus on reconciliations, accounting closes, assurance/control activities. Proven experience in managing and developing a team. Technical and/or
Other Essential Knowledge:
Support the Controller in the completion of special projects as necessary and in alignment with the specifics of the role, including filling in during absence. Supervise compliance with employment policies for all department team members (approximately a total of 5 team members). Lead the department’s assessment of contingency plans for adequacy of resources, allocation of responsibilities of the team, periodic reviews of resources’ performance results and recruiting. Collaborate with other departments and team members, especially during quarterly and year-end processes, to ensure timely compliance with deadlines. Evaluate, research and implement enhancements to processes for operational efficiencies while ensuring compliance with Company and regulatory requirements. Previous experience is required with MS Office Skills, including advanced MS Excel and other tools. Prior experience implementing and/or using FIS Integrated Banking Solution (IBS), Data Intelligence Manager (DIM) and Peoplesoft is strongly desired. Advanced data management skills are desirable. Strong organizational skills, preferably with ability to communicate professionally in English and Spanish.
